I used to hear this constantly on calls. It frustrated me. But once I actually thought about it, I realised something:

No one opts in by accident. They clicked. They filled in their details. They hit submit.

"The problem wasn't the lead. The problem was what happened in the 60 seconds after they opted in."

  • They don't treat it like a serious commitment

    • Keep it short — one line is enough

    Call the Lead With the Right Opener

    When you get them on the phone, how you open the call matters. Give them context immediately — don't make them work for it.

    Then go straight into your next question. Don't pause and wait.

    Do NOT say: "Do you remember opting in?" — This gives them an easy out. Lead with context, then move forward.

    Don't rely on one platform. Hit them from different directions — each touchpoint makes your name more familiar, faster.

What To Say If They Still Don't Remember

Even with the best system, some people will still say it. Here's exactly how I handle it — calmly, without arguing, and without losing the conversation.

Step 1
Stay calm. Don't react with frustration — it's genuinely normal. "All good, it happens. Most people opt in and go straight back to scrolling."

Keep moving immediately. Don't dwell on it. "This will just take a second…"

Ask your next qualifying question and continue as normal. Do not argue. Just move forward.
